La fusillade de Newtown est vécue comme un second 9/11

I thought I had seen the worst situations I'd ever see 9/11, CO & even friends taken too soon. Nothing prepared me for this in CT. #newtown

Même si les attentats du 11 septembre 2001 étaient une tragédie différente de celle de la fusillade de Sandy Hook (Newtown), la recherche n'en éclaire pas moins la manière dont les enfants digèrent un tel traumatisme.

Et la journaliste de poursuivre: "Voici l''un des principaux enseignements: regarder à haute dose la couverture télévisuelle d'événements traumatisants ne semble pas aider les enfants (et adultes) à gérer de telles situations. Selon une étude de 2007 réalisée par le Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, des chercheurs ont observé que les enfants qui ont le plus regardé la télévision avaient plus de risque de souffrir de syndrômes de stress post-traumatique dans les mois qui ont suivi les attentats du 11 septembre. Ils ont conclu que regarder de tels événements tragiques à la télévision suffit à causer des troubles de stress post-traumatiques au sein d'une population vulnérable que sont les enfants.".
