X-MAS and the spirit of Christmas (Tout fout le camp)

Dear Zeitgenosse,

Thank you for your thoughtful card which reflects the MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS as we knew it when we were children. The world has changed and so have we.

Today it is difficult to see in Christmas anything else but a commercial exercise with decorations popping up on high street as early as October. The good wishes sent out by commercial enterprises in large numbers without even a signature are an insult to the spirit of Christmas. Well, to be politically correct, it is "safer" anyway to use the more neutral term "X-MAS" !

Perhaps we should all return these cards to the sender by writing "Refusé" on the envelope and handing them back to the postman.

Most irritating are the New Year's greetings received even before the new year has arrived. Merry Christmas to you and those you care for and the hope for the return of some of the old-fashioned values we have known when we were little.

Sincerely,

Yesterday
