Avec la montée de la menace que représente l'Etat islamique d'Irak et du Levant (EIIL), un groupe djihadiste qui s'est déjà emparé de plusieurs villes d'Irak, les Américains ont droit à un défilé d'experts sur leur petit écran. Des experts qui, pour certains, n'hésitent pas à faire la leçon à Barack Obama, qu'il s'agisse de l'ancien secrétaire adjoint à la Défense Paul Wolfowitz, de l'ancien administrateur américain en Irak Paul Bremer ou du commentateur néoconservateur Bill Krystol. Les commentaires de l'ancien vice-président de George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, sont d'autant plus intéressants que le personnage n'a cessé de mentir au peuple américain au cours du premier mandat de Bush fils, que ce soit au sujet des armes de destruction massive en Irak qui n'ont jamais existé ou du lien manifeste (qui n'existait pas non plus à l'époque) entre Saddam Hussein et Al-Qaida.
Aujourd'hui, Dick Cheney et sa fille Liz passent à l'offensive, lançant une nouvelle orgaisation baptisée Alliance for A Strong America. Dans une vidéo, ils expliquent comment le président Barack Obama a, en six ans à la Maison-Blanche, gravement affaibli les Etats-Unis et comment il "mène en bateau" le peuple américain. Dans une tribune publiée dans le Wall Street Journal, il explique comment la doctrine Obama est en train de s'effondrer. Pour les Cheney, il est temps de réagir, de refaire des Etats-Unis le gendarme du monde. Ce que Dick Cheney ne dit pas, c'est qu'en quittant l'administration Bush, son taux d'approbation était d'environ 13%, qu'il avait laissé l'Irak en ruine, dévasté par huit ans de guerre, avec plus de 100 000 morts irakiens et de 4500 morts de soldats américains pour un coup de plus de 800 milliards de dollars.
